Well I’m not exactly a big hurling head but I know enough to get by and certainly enough to enjoy some of the more subtle jokes in the show.

It’s written by comedy duo Bryan Flynn and Kevin McCormack and is in Dublin for a week only so you don’t have much time to go check it out. What I can say without ruining it is that I sat through the first half, found the part with the TV panel to be the funniest but wasn’t overly blown away. However the second half of the show built upon everything the first half had put in place and was a phenomenal finish.

And any red blooded man wouldn’t think twice about coaching that camogie team. Holy schmokes, sure just look left at the thumbnail to see these girls are nothing to be messed with, hurls in hand.

Totally enjoyable show, you will be laughing right to the end and a big shout out goes to the actor playing Davey Fitz who played his role amazingly and deserved the biggest cheer of the night that he received humbly. A quality show, well worth the money.

Lisa Hannigan also decided to rob The Kanyu Tree’s ukelele and play Knots which was a lovely surprise. Myself and Sean Smyth had a lovely time and even got to talk to some of the team from Culch.ie, Lisa Hannigan her and pitch our Coast to Coast – Tea and Toast concept to see if Meteor would be interested in supporting us.

The cogs are all coming together nicely. Lovely evening had by all and Michelle from Meteor seemed to enjoy the Valentines card I got her in liu of having a festive jumper.

Well I was one of the few who got a look at the Human Body exhibition before it opened to the public which was great. It’s always nice to be one of the few given the first peek of something and having not caught it when it was here first time I was delighted to take a wee look.

It’s by a new curator team so it’s different from the last time but the concept remains the same with the human body dissected in differing manners showing how the nerves, veins, arteries, muscles all work within our body and just how insanely complex we are as human beings.

You might feel quesy if easily grossed out and probably don’t need to know that these were formerly real people donated to the university of China for scientific purposes. I’ve heard a lot of opposition to it being morally wrong however science has always evolved this way in my experience with people donating their organs and bodies to help prevent or solve scientific mysteries. My feeling is that some kid might be so intrigued by it all he takes up science, goes on to be a top doctor or scientist and saves thousands of lives or solves cancer etc. Personally I enjoyed it, moral issues aside and would definitely recommend it to those who enjoy the science of the body and how things work.

OK guys I thought it might be easiest to just put this information in one place to see if we can get a more coherent result

Idea

Drive from Howth to Achill and back to Howth stopping in every county we pass through for Tea, Toast and a one song gig from a band.

When

Good Friday 2012

Why

To try raise money for Down Syndrome Ireland.

Is there a time limit

Yes it works two ways, if we do it in less than 12 hours. Phil and Cuffe must do multiple forfeits to be revealed soon
If it takes more than 12 hours, Chuck (one of three members of this team) has to do multiple forfeits to be revealed soon

Transport

Phil and Cuffe will be in car, Chuck on Motorbike

Route

——-> OUT: Howth->Dunboyne->Maynooth->Mullingar->Longford Town->Stroketown->Castlebar->Achill
——-> IN: Castlerea->Roscommon Town->Athlone->Tullmore->Portlaoise->Newbridge->Howth

If you know any bands or are in a band on this route and want to be involved you can contact admin@goldenplec.com to let us know.

The idea will be that we will have a rough time and location in particular town on the day, could be early or late depending on when we roll through and you would be there to play a one song gig. We will record the video and share it through Twitter and Facebook and hopefully have a captive audience to hear you play.

Current Offers

Longford Town: Patrick Conboy (Twitter) to assist finding a band there

Howth (Twitter cathalmelinn)
Tullamore / Portlaoise (Gaz Le Rock on Twitter)
Maynooth – She’s a beauty (offer on the Facebook GP page) / (Susie Soho twitter)
Newbridge (Susie Soho tentative offer)
Mullingar – Paul Dowd assisting find a band there.
Athlone – The Rusty Fixtures offered on Facebook

Company Sponsorship
If your company would like to sponsor us to use specific technology on the trip please get in contact
Currently we are talking to a phone provider about using their phone to record the gigs
We probably could do with a reliable USB dongle
Tea and Toast on the day at points of arrival would be welcomed though we will bring our own
Other suggestions are welcome or if you just wish to sponsor some money and be mentioned get in touch.

I’ve booked in for the start of March, heading out the Friday night and flying back the Monday morning. The hope is to catch a Man City game as they play Bolton at home that Saturday and on the Sunday head to the Deaf institute to catch Swords friends, Cast of Cheers embark on their UK tour.
